This game mechanics until now don't stay so very much in the focus of gamification. But I think, they have a great potential also for gamification. Where and how they could be used?

Hey, actually I'm developing a game layer for a customer and her crowdsourcing platform. The special characteristic of this crowdsourcing platform: It's a closed one. ;-) While other platforms like innocentive or atizo show the ideas that were contributed by all members, it's the philosophy of my customer's platform not to show the ideas. For some companies who want to find special solutions this is a great argument to pay for this kind of 'open innovation - crowdsourcing'. But as you can imagine this also leads to a lack of socialising possibilities. There is no way to discuss some ideas with other memebers of the platform. So, there is the need for other engaging elements to drive more and better engagement. This is why we decided to build a game layer. Both game mechanics Epic Meaning and Urgent Optimism are playing a big role within our concept. Using storytelling combined with comic style we are narrating a story that creates an epic meaning (saving the world) and also an urgent optimism by using a role play (you're the hero to solve the problem) for the contributers. Ideally this kind of work and interaction should create a blissful productivity feeling for all members of the platform. The hardest part (because it's a closed platform) is the game mechanic 'community collaboration'. I think we have to find a way to use this game mechanic because the biggest part of all platform members can be assigned to the player type 'socializer'. So at the moment I'm trying to find a solution for this using the approach "playing alone, together" like foursquare does it with its badges and rewards.

I like your answer :0))) Maybe a good way for your customer could be, to open his platform half. Than more skills/ points / badges the people get, than more will be opened for them.

Yeah, ggod point :-) We are trying to persuade him.

One more point for 'urgent optimism' and 'blissful productivity'. When I'm meeting with successfull persons that have an amazing passion or are an inspiration by themselves than these two mechanics seem to be like personal characteristics.

Creating a working environment where these two mechanics are advanced in an effective way should be the most important task for every CEO. Than your employees will be less addicted by extrensic rewards -instead they will have their own internal opiates ;-) What a great situation would this be - for both: employees and employer.
