Great answer from gardenmarketing on gamification of the individual. I'd also add a tools to old folks homes to allow that huge untapped store of knowledge and experience to contribute to the great challenges that face us as a species. Or even smaller projects for charities and businesses where their skills prove to be valuable. Then I'd track the contributions so they could see how they were working to create change and a positive new world. Many may not be the most technically competent so you need to build tools that are easy to use and intuitive for that generation gap. If you built the right kind of networking and collaboration tools you could perhaps remove some of the disconnection from society and family that the elderly in some managed care faculties face. I'd add a competitive element between managed care faculties around the country to give them a sense of tribe and belonging. Online trivia competitions between homes, athletic senior competitions, pride of community events. The goal would be to give the elderly, like everyone else, a defined sense of purpose and belonging and the ability to contribute towards a better world, to something bigger than themselves if they want to. Just because you have mobility issues or you need some monitoring and care on a regular basis doesn't mean you can't use your time to make a difference. |
